REACTION TO CRITICAL THINKING: THE SOUL OF COMMUNICATION

After reading the article, I learnt that effective communication is highly regarded in organizations. According to the 2008 whitepaper by IDC, organizations in the US and UK has resulted in great losses due to employee misunderstanding and poor communication. Therefore, organizations can offer communication skills training to help improve effective communication and lower the possibility of miscommunication.

Although communication is the act of giving, receiving and sharing information, critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally, allowing us to organize our thoughts and put them together before communicating. Critical thinking prevents ambiguity and miscommunication in organizations as thoughts are not influenced by our emotions. Hence, critical thinking is crucial to effective communication as critical thinking breeds clarity of thought.

As a future leader in an organization, effective communication is pivotal in improving productivity and preventing misunderstanding. However, leaders are not the only ones responsible for effective communication as it is every employee's responsibility for it to take place.
